1. Product Overview

BAC Water for Injection (BWFI) is a sterile, nonpyrogenic preparation of water for injection containing
0.9% (9 mg/mL) benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. This solution is designed for use as a sterile
diluent for reconstitution of lyophilized peptides , proteins, and other research compounds in laboratory settings.

The presence of benzyl alcohol as a preservative allows for multiple withdrawals from a single vial while
maintaining sterility over an extended period when stored properly. This product is manufactured under strict
quality control standards and is tested for sterility, endotoxin levels, and pH to ensure consistency and
reliability in research applications.

3. Research Applications

BAC Water is intended exclusively for use in qualified research laboratories. Common applications
include:

  • Peptide Reconstitution: Primary diluent for reconstituting lyophilized peptides, including
GLP-1 agonists, amylin analogs, and other research peptides.
  • Protein Preparation: Dissolution and dilution of proteins, antibodies, and enzyme preparations
    for in vitro assays.
  • Stock Solution Preparation: Preparation of working solutions and serial dilutions for
    concentration-dependent studies.
  • Cell Culture Applications: Dilution of media components and supplements (when appropriate for
    specific protocols).
  • Analytical Chemistry: Sample preparation for chromatographic analysis (HPLC, LC-MS) and other
    analytical techniques.

4. Storage and Handling

Proper storage is essential to maintain the sterility and integrity of bacteriostatic water. Please adhere to the
following guidelines:

Storage Conditions

  • Store at controlled room temperature: 20-25°C (68-77°F)
  • Protect from freezing
  • Store in original container until ready for use
  • Keep vial upright to prevent contamination of closure

Handling Guidelines

  • Use aseptic technique when withdrawing solution
  • Disinfect rubber stopper with 70% isopropyl alcohol before each puncture
  • Use sterile needles and syringes for each withdrawal
  • Do not use if solution is cloudy, discolored, or contains particulate matter
  • Once opened, use within 28 days and discard any unused portion after this period
  • Do not autoclave or resterilize

Usage Notes

  • For reconstitution: Add BAC water slowly to lyophilized powder
  • Gently swirl or rotate vial; do not shake vigorously to prevent foaming
  • Allow adequate time for complete dissolution
  • Reconstituted peptides should be stored at 2-8°C and used within timeframe specified for the specific compound

5. Safety and Hazard Information

While this product has low toxicity, standard laboratory safety protocols must be observed.

  • Potential Hazards:
    • Benzyl alcohol may cause mild irritation to skin and eyes
    • Avoid contact with eyes and prolonged skin contact
    • Do not ingest
  • First Aid:
    • Skin Contact: Wash affected area with soap and water
    • Eye Contact: Rinse cautiously with water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses if
present. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
    • Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water. Do NOT induce vomiting. Seek medical advice immediately.
    • Inhalation: Not expected under normal use conditions
  • Disposal:
    • Dispose of contents/container in accordance with local, regional, and national regulations regarding
      chemical and biological waste
    • Empty vials may be disposed of as general laboratory waste after proper decontamination
  • Incompatibilities:
    • Not compatible with compounds that are incompatible with benzyl alcohol
    • Not suitable for neonatal use in clinical settings due to benzyl alcohol content
    • May not be suitable for certain cell culture applications sensitive to benzyl alcohol
